Our tireless environmental efforts have grown out of a genuine respect and concern for our planet. To safeguard the world for future generations, we've gone beyond conventional means of leaving less of an impact. We believe our efforts, along with everyone else's, can do a world of good.
MADE FROM RENEWABLE RESOURCES AT LEED®-CERTIFIED FACILITIES.
One of our primary goals is crafting a vehicle that is exceptionally lean in its use of raw materials, its fuel and its impact on the environment. We maintain several LEED-certified facilities, the premier mark of achievement in green building, where we manufacture vehicles such as the Lexus ES. With the use of large-scale shredders, we’re able to recycle steel and non-ferrous metals. Pushing our environmental stewardship to near perfection, virtually 99 percent of all scrap steel generated by our plants is now recycled. In addition, many waste materials, like plastic wrap, paint solvents, used oil, packaging materials and cardboard, are also recycled. Our efforts have resulted in more than 100,000 tons of recycled material each year and have prevented 500,000 pounds of material from ending up in landfills.*
FIRST IN LUXURY HYBRID TECHNOLOGY THAT'S SECOND TO NONE.
The 2006 RX 400h was the first luxury hybrid in the world. After many generations of hybrid advancements, we now offer more hybrid models than ever before. Furthering the tradition of innovation, we've developed the 2018 Lexus LS 500h, the first multistage hybrid vehicle ever. In our continued efforts to create less impact, we've actually made a big one in the hybrid category.
PROUD SPONSOR OF THE ENVIRONMENT.
Lexus continues to think green by working worldwide with engineers and scientists to fund fellowships and grants. Since 2007, we’ve proudly hosted the annual Lexus Eco Challenge, an environmental competition for secondary students. Because the more people get involved, the more the environment wins.
