Lexus Safety System+

Standard on most Lexus vehicles, Lexus Safety System+ is an integrated suite of four advanced safety systems designed to help in certain circumstances, from alerting you of pedestrians to helping you maintain a preset speed and following distance from the vehicle ahead.* On the 2019 ES, Lexus Safety System+ 2.0 pushes the technology even further with two additional systems that can provide road sign information and can even help keep your vehicle centered in its lane on highways with gradual curves.*

Lexus Pre-Collision System

Pre-Collision System

Lexus Safety System+* includes a Pre-Collision System* with Pedestrian Detection* that’s engineered to help detect a vehicle or a pedestrian in the path of your Lexus under certain conditions. Should it detect a potential frontal collision, it’s designed to automatically prepare Brake Assist* for increased brake force and, in some cases, can even automatically brake the vehicle to a stop.

Lexus Safety System+ 2.0* features enhanced radar and camera capabilities, so it’s now possible for the system to help detect not only the vehicle ahead, but also a preceding bicyclist in daytime and even a preceding pedestrian in daytime and low-light conditions.* Should it detect a potential frontal collision, it can help automatically brake the vehicle to a stop.

Lexus Lane Assistance

Lane Assistance

Lexus Safety System+* offers a variety of lane assistance systems. Lane Departure Alert* is designed to provide an audible alert if an inadvertent lane departure is detected. Lane Departure Alert* with Steering Assist can take corrective measures with a slight pull on the steering wheel. Lane Keep Assist* can integrate with the cruise-control system to help prevent drifting before it occurs.

Lexus Safety System+ 2.0* adds a second lane assistance feature to Lane Departure Alert* with Steering Assist, Lane Tracing Assist.* This hands-on system integrates with All-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control* to help the driver keep their vehicle centered in the lane, even in traffic and on highways with gradual curves.

Lexus Intelligent High-Beam Headlamps

Intelligent High Beams

Intelligent High Beams* are included in both Lexus Safety System+ systems.* To help provide greater visibility for you as well as other drivers, this system offers added illumination to help keep you focused on the road. When the road ahead is clear, the system defaults to high-beam mode, then temporarily switches to low beams when it detects the headlamps or taillamps of vehicles ahead.

Lexus Dynamic Radar Cruise Control

Dynamic Radar Cruise Control

Lexus Safety System+* on the 2019 IS, RC and RC F includes High-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control.* This system uses radar and camera technology to help you maintain a preset speed and following distance from the vehicle ahead. If you get closer than the preset distance, the throttle is automatically reduced and the brakes may be applied. As soon as the road ahead clears, your Lexus returns to its preset speed.

The other Lexus Safety System+ and Lexus Safety System+ 2.0* models include additional functionality with All-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control.* Whether at highway speeds or in stop-and-go traffic, this more advanced system is designed to detect if you get closer than the preset distance and automatically slow your vehicle—even to a complete stop.

WITHOUT A SCRATCH

BEFORE YOU GET INTO YOUR NEXT LUXURY VEHICLE, CONSIDER ONE MAN'S STORY OF GETTING OUT OF HIS.

"At 10:27 a.m. on Wednesday, October 26, my LS 460 was blindsided by an 18-ton truck traveling at 70 mph. It left no skid marks at the scene. The impact tore the entire front left-wheel assembly off my Lexus, sending it more than 250 yards away, and spun the vehicle into the truck, crushing the rear. Fortunately, the entire cabin was left intact and I walked away without a scratch. Shortly after, I called my Lexus dealer and said, ‘Naturally, I want the same car this time around.*"
