A native of Queensland, Australia, Jason Day was enrolled by his father at the Beaudesert Golf Club just after he turned six. Jason started winning local events and was soon attending the Hills Golf Academy and training under Colin Swatton, who remains his coach today.

After winning the Green Jacket at the NEC Master of the Amateurs, Jason turned professional in 2006 and immediately began playing PGA TOUR events, principally through sponsors’ exemptions. By 2008, he was playing so well he earned his official PGA TOUR card.

By 2010, Jason became the youngest Australian to win a PGA TOUR event, winning the HP Byron Nelson Championship. Just a year later, he had ten top-10 finishes, including two second-place finishes at the Masters and the U.S. Open. He would finish the season as No. 8 in the Official World Golf Rankings.

In February 2014, Jason won his first World Golf Championship event, the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship, defeating Victor Dubuisson in the final match. Dubuisson won the last two holes to tie, then scrambled for halves after missing greens in extra holes before Jason finally secured victory in dramatic fashion. The win lifted him to No. 4 in the world rankings.

The summer of 2015 was nothing short of spectacular. After finishing one shot out of the playoff at the Open Championship, Jason rebounded by winning the RBC Canadian Open. In August, he won the PGA Championship and set a new record as the first player to finish at 20 under par in a major. He went on to win two of the four FedExCup Playoff events—The Barclays and the BMW Championship—capturing five victories in the season. The crowning achievement was being ranked No. 1 in the world at age 27. Jason became the youngest Australian ever to reach that pinnacle, beating fellow Australian and golfing icon Greg Norman by three years.
