

The Electronically controlled Continuously Variable Transmission (ECVT) on the RX 450h uses power from the engine and hybrid battery to drive the front wheels with peak efficiency. And, because it doesn’t have gears like a traditional transmission, shift shock is eliminated for smoother acceleration. The RX 450h is also the first hybrid utility vehicle to feature a Manual Shift mode transmission. Enabling the driver to upshift or downshift by nudging the gearshift forward or backward, it provides greater responsiveness and maneuverability in different driving conditions.
