The available Heads-up Display system on the RX can project simple navigation directions, audio information and vehicle speed onto the windshield in front of you, so you can spend more time focused on the road ahead. And unlike other systems, it includes a distance countdown and an animated arrow that guides you intuitively through turns.
The placement and angle of every speaker and the careful consideration of every component were essential in the development of the Lexus Premium Audio System in the RX. The result is a system that immerses the driver and passengers in remarkably vivid sound. For the true audiophile, an available 15-speaker Mark Levinson® Premium Surround Sound Audio System [*] uses 7.1-channel architecture and pushes 330 watts of power, immersing the entire cabin in sound quality that was once only reserved for six-figure home-audio systems.
The center channel coaxial speaker consists of a 90-mm metal cone midrange speaker and a 16-mm tweeter, widening the scope of supported frequencies to produce sound with a greater degree of precision compared to a conventional system. In addition, it also matches harmonics with the front right and left channels.
Mounted in the rear of the RX, a 20-cm Mark Levinson subwoofer with enclosure is powered by a 100-watt Mark Levinson amplifier. This allows it to produce extremely deep bass with remarkable ease and clarity.
A 65-mm Mark Levinson speaker is built into both rear pillars of the RX to provide the right and left surround sound channels. The diffusion of sound has been optimized in order to allow each occupant to enjoy the same level of audio quality.
Every piece of technology in the RX-from easy, intuitive controls to the various entertainment options-is designed to focus on you, the driver.
The available dual-screen Rear-Seat Entertainment System (RSES) [*] allows the left and right rear-seat passengers to enjoy separate entertainment. With seven-inch LCD screens located behind the driver's and front passenger's headrests, each system features a pair of wireless headphones [*] and can be used as a DVD player, audio player or game console via audio and video input jacks.
For drivers who want to get the most out of every curve, the RX F SPORT has arrived. It's the only RX that offers an eight-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters, and together with its sport-tuned suspension it delivers exhilaration at your command.
The RX is engineered to deliver agile and dynamic handling like that of a luxury sedan. It features a low powertrain, a fully independent MacPherson strut front suspension and a completely unique double-wishbone rear suspension that took 30 separate tuning sessions to develop. The system not only helps to improve handling grip, it also intrudes less into the cargo area, freeing up floor space.
The 3.5-liter V6 engine in the RX delivers 270 horsepower [*] and makes 90 percent of its peak torque available in a low rpm range for incredibly responsive power at all engine speeds-all while providing greater fuel efficiency thanks to the dual Variable Valve Timing with intelligence (VVT-i) system. And the smooth six-speed automatic transmission uses multiple driving sensors to deliver improved performance and fuel efficiency.

Available on the RX and RX F SPORT, the Active Torque Control all-wheel drive (AWD) system monitors vehicle and road conditions to predict your path. Then it maximizes efficiency by automatically delivering up to 50% of available torque power to the rear wheels only when you need it. And on the AWD RX Hybrid, an electric motor delivers instantaneous torque to the rear wheels automatically when you need it, and with no friction loss.
While an ordinary crash test dummy can provide 119 data points, Lexus goes beyond that by using digital models comprised of millions. The results of this innovative approach to safety in the RX include a class-leading [*] 10 standard airbags [*], active front headrests [*] and an available Pre-Collision System [*].
