Braking

The LS 460 Sport comes standard with Brembo® performance brakes [1]. Brembo crafted a special brake system including massive six-piston aluminum calipers that clamp huge 14.8-inch rotors in front and two-piston calipers with 13.1-inch rotors in the rear. The high-friction brake [1] pads have a high coefficient of friction, all of which combine to help yield fast brake response and to help consistently provide short stops.

The LS comes equipped with four-wheel ventilated disc brakes [1] that feature Electronic Controlled Braking (ECB), which is a vital component of the Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management (VDIM) [2] system. ECB uses an electronic system to activate the brakes, utilizing a brake-pedal-position sensor to read the pedal's position and activate the master cylinder accordingly. Both the front and rear brakes are ventilated to help provide superior stopping performance.

The LS comes equipped with a brake-hold system that, when activated, holds the stopped vehicle in place without having to keep your foot on the brake pedal. This prevents the LS from creeping forward or backward while stopped. The LS brakes are even impressive after your drive is done. An electronic parking brake is automatically activated as soon as the LS is placed in "Park." When you shift out of this gear, the parking brake is automatically deactivated.

[1]High-friction brakes are standard equipment for the front brakes only and require periodic inspection and measurement as outlined in the Warranty and Services Guide. The pads and rotors are expected to experience greater wear than conventional brakes. Pad life may be less than 20,000 miles, and brake rotor life may be less than 50,000 miles depending on driving conditions. [2]Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management (VDIM) is an electronic system designed to help the driver maintain vehicle control under adverse conditions. It is not a substitute for safe driving practices. Factors including speed, road conditions and driver steering input can all affect whether VDIM will be effective in preventing a loss of control.
