Take the roar from the racetrack to the on-ramp. Born on the grueling Fuji International Speedway, the 2014 IS F is the fastest, most dominant sedan Lexus has ever built. A 5.0-liter V8 engine. 416 horsepower [*]. 0-to-60 in 4.6 seconds [*]. A track-tuned suspension. It's just scratching the surface of a passion for performance that's as deep as its racing pedigree.
When it comes to delivering heart-stopping performance, the proof is in simple numbers. 416 hp [*] and 371 lb-ft of torque [*] from the IS F's 5.0-liter V8 engine help deliver a 0-to-60 time of just 4.6 seconds [*]. It's engineered to enhance high-rpm breathing, so while the driver gets a crunch of power down low, it also keeps building as revs rise, for a sense of unlimited acceleration that can't be measured in numbers.
To satisfy their craving for hardcore performance, a small group of rogue engineers created the IS F between their regular assignments. But they weren't satisfied with just creating a monster—that monster had to be legit. So they tested the IS F at some of the world's most iconic racetracks, including the IS F's home circuit, Fuji Speedway in Japan. By the time testing was complete, the result was not just a car these engineers wanted to make—it was a car these serious enthusiasts wanted to drive.
Fuji Speedway has one of the longest straights in motorsports. At the end of this straight, "Turn 1" can only be negotiated after massive deceleration—which made Fuji the ideal location to test the IS F's brakes to the limit. The result is a Brembo® braking system [*] specifically crafted for the hungry IS F.
Massive, opposed six-piston calipers clamp the front rotors, while in the rear, opposed two-piston calipers do the job.
The huge, 14.2-inch, ventilated, cross-drilled rotors in the front and their 13.6-inch counterparts in the rear help provide short, fade-free stops.
Special front bumper air ducts and a unique ventilation structure in the rotors are designed to help cool the brakes quickly.
Carving up the road requires finesse. Double-wishbone front and multilink rear suspension systems include shock absorbers with stiff springs and large stabilizer bars optimized to precisely control body, wheel and suspension motion. And for increased traction and performance in turns, a torque-sensing limited-slip TORSEN® rear differential [*] matches available engine power to changing traction conditions of the rear wheels.
The lightning-fast eight-speed Sport Direct-Shift transmission on the IS F was the world's first, and it uses a special lockup clutch for improved responsiveness, plus a control system that enables virtually instant manual upshifts (as quick as 0.1 seconds) and throttle blips on downshifts, giving the driver full control over gear selection.
The available Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management (VDIM) system [*] monitors and coordinates the braking, drive power and steering systems to support high-performance driving on every front and keep you connected to the road.
If you're truly passionate about driving, you live it every day. The IS F's exterior styling is designed to put your passion on full display, from the trapezoid-shaped front fascia and flared front fenders to the wide grilles that feature a special wire-mesh pattern. And that's just the front.
The IS F's wedge-like profile is accentuated by functional front-fender air ducts with lower edges that transition to the rocker panels and continue as a character line into the rear bumper.
The rear of the IS F continues the dramatic trapezoidal shape from the front. Openings for the four exhaust outlets are integrated into the sleek design of the bumper. LED stop and taillamps give the IS F a unique nighttime appearance, and this design detail extends down to the white LED license plate lamps.
Bolstered leather-trimmed sport seats help support assertive driving by helping keep you firmly in place through turns. In addition to the Red interior, there is also an available Red and Black interior with Alcantara® seat inserts for even more assured cornering. The front seats are heated and fully adjustable for optimal comfort and control.
Every surface of the IS F was painstakingly crafted to meet the highest standards while also displaying an obsession with driving. Stylish dark aluminized composite trim is found on the IS F's doors and center console.
Throughout the cockpit, the IS F is ready for your next move. The sport steering wheel is trimmed with perforated leather for performance driving. And the bold "F" marque is emblazoned on it as a reminder of its Fuji Speedway heritage.
The instrument display includes a large, centrally positioned tachometer with a digital speedometer and three-step rev indicator inside its ring. In addition, a smaller, analog-style speedometer is positioned in the bottom right corner.
Master the eight-speed Sport Direct-Shift transmission—with virtually instant manual upshifts and throttle blips on downshifts—with your fingers.
The BBS 19-inch forged-aluminum wheels [*] are both stronger and lighter than equivalent cast wheels and help to improve handling and acceleration via reduced unsprung weight and rotational inertia. BBS-forged wheels are found on top-level racing cars around the world, including Formula One®.
Available Lexus Enform [*] connects you and your vehicle like never before. It's the convenience of live, 24-hour Navigation assistance [*]. It's the peace of mind of knowing emergency services can be requested at the press of a button. And, with eDestination, it's the freedom to plan your entire trip, send destinations to your vehicle and more—all from your smartphone.
The placement and angle of every speaker and the careful consideration of every component were essential in the development of the Lexus Premium Audio System in the IS F. And for the true audiophile, an available 14-speaker Mark Levinson® Premium Surround Sound Audio System [*] uses 5.1-channel architecture and pushes 300 watts of power, immersing the entire cabin in sound quality that was once only reserved for six-figure home audio systems.
With available Fuel Guide, you can search for stations by price, brand, distance or grade. And, once you make a selection, it can display the destination on your Navigation screen [*].
Available NavTraffic™ [*] provides up-to-date traffic information, including speed and estimated travel time, and can reroute you to avoid accidents or construction.
Available NavWeather™ [*] provides continuously updated local weather reports and three-day forecasts for specific cities, and it can even automatically alert you of severe weather ahead.

This system utilizes sensors located in the front and rear bumpers to detect objects near the vehicle and notify you of their location and proximity using audible tones and an indicator on the multimedia display. And for added convenience, the backup camera [*] screen and Parking Assist Monitor can be viewed simultaneously on the multimedia display.
While an ordinary crash test dummy can provide 119 data points, our Total HUman Model for Safety (THUMS) maps over two million data points on the human body. This allows us to analyze more subtle injuries like bruising and soft tissue damage. This innovative approach to safety supports the design of comprehensive airbag system [*] and active front headrests [*].
