Should a seven-passenger SUV be powerful or versatile? Industrious or luxurious? Designed for rustic back roads or for peaceful freeway commutes? The emphatic answer is the 2013 GX. From its bracing performance to its spacious, well-appointed interior and adaptable cargo [*] area, the GX is more than a vehicle—it's a solution.

Those who expect more won't be surprised when they discover the wide array of standard features in the GX: meticulously crafted leather and wood trim, heated and ventilated front seats, and convenient technologies that make every day just a little bit easier.
The auburn bubinga wood trim in every GX is grain-matched so that each interior is unique and consistent. And the fine leather is rigorously tested 11 different ways to make sure it is both soft and durable.
On cold days, the front seatbacks and lower-seat cushions can be heated to one of three levels. In warmer weather, select from three settings to have fans inside the seatbacks and cushions circulate air through perforations in the leather trim.
Not only does the GX feature a second-row 40/20/40-split seatback that accommodates various kinds of cargo [*], but the passenger-side seat also tilts and slides forward to allow easy access to the third row. And to make packing even easier, at the touch of a button the power third-row seat can automatically fold flat into the cargo area floor.

Whether you're taking a trip to the beach, a trek to the mountains or just braving the local shopping mall, your GX is ready to take it on.
The 40/20/40-split second-row seats make it easy for the GX to adapt to whatever your day brings.
Even with all seven seats occupied, there's plenty of cargo [*] space. And, for added convenience, the glass hatch allows you to place small items like shopping bags in the vehicle without opening the rear door.
Customize the climate around you. Individual settings allow the driver and front passenger to adjust their preferred temperatures, while available controls in the second row adjust settings for the rear passengers. The front-row seats can be heated or cooled, and second-row heated seats are also available.
On cold days, everything you touch reminds you of the temperature. That's why the GX's steering wheel includes an available heating element to warm the thing you're touching the most—the steering wheel—and help make you more comfortable more quickly.

Helping to provide enhanced visibility, the available Wide-view Front and Side Monitor [*] features a front-mounted camera [*] to help you see around blind corners, such as when you're exiting a parking garage. A side camera [*] under the passenger-side mirror and a rearview camera [*] are particularly useful when navigating narrow passageways and tight parking spaces.
Available Lexus Enform [*] connects you and your vehicle like never before. It's the convenience of live, 24-hour navigation assistance. It's the peace of mind of knowing emergency services can be requested at the press of a button. And, with the Lexus Enform App [*], it's the freedom to plan your entire trip, send destinations to your vehicle and more—all from your smartphone.

The available dual-screen Rear-Seat Entertainment System (RSES) [*] allows the left and right rear-seat passengers to enjoy separate entertainment. With seven-inch LCD screens located behind the driver's and front passenger's headrests, the system features a pair of wireless headphones [*] and can be used as a DVD player, audio player or game console via audio and video input jacks.

This system is designed to detect surrounding objects and notify you of its location and proximity using audible tones and an indicator on the multimedia display. And for added convenience, the backup camera [*] screen and Parking Assist Monitor can be viewed simultaneously on the multimedia display.
To help you maintain a preset following distance from a vehicle traveling ahead, available Dynamic Radar Cruise Control can regulate the throttle and even apply the brakes. And, when the road ahead clears, it can return your vehicle to the preselected speed.
Sensors are designed to detect the amount of water on the windshield, activate the wipers, and optimize the rate of the wipers accordingly to minimize distractions and help the driver focus on the road.
This available Mark Levinson® Premium Surround Sound System [*] is an audiophile's dream. Designed exclusively for the GX, it features 7.1 surround sound, 17 carefully tuned and positioned speakers and 330 watts of maximum power. The result is an audio experience that more resembles a concert hall than an automobile, immersing the cabin in sound quality that was once only reserved for six-figure home-audio systems.
The center-channel coaxial speaker consists of a 90-mm metal cone midrange speaker and a 16-mm tweeter, widening the scope of supported frequencies to produce sound with a greater degree of precision compared to a conventional system. In addition, it also matches harmonics with the front right and left channels.
Mounted in the rear of the GX, a 25-cm Mark Levinson [*] subwoofer with enclosure is powered by 100 watts from the Mark Levinson amplifier. This allows it to produce extremely deep bass with remarkable ease and clarity.
90-mm coaxial speakers with 16-mm tweeters on the rear pillars optimize the fullness of sound and widen the sound reproduction frequency range so every occupant can enjoy true surround sound from any seat.
Available NavTraffic™ [*] provides real-time traffic information, including speed and estimated travel time, and can reroute you to avoid accidents or construction.
Available NavWeather™ [*] provides continuously updated local weather reports and five-day forecasts for specific cities, and it can even automatically alert you of severe weather ahead.
Available Sports and Stocks [*] offers access to the schedules, scores and news of your favorite sports teams, as well as personalized stock quotes and related information.
The numbers speak for themselves: the 4.6-lIter V8 engine in the GX delivers an impressive 301 horsepower [*] and 329 lb-ft of torque [*] at low rpm, enabling the GX to tow up to 6,500 lb [*]. At the same time, the six-speed automatic transmission optimizes the gear ratios in a variety of driving conditions to help maximize both power and smoothness.

Think of it as the off-road equivalent of cruise control. With the press of a button, the available Crawl Control [*] system carefully manages the engine and brakes to help you maintain a slow, consistent speed: up, down and over rugged terrain. And, for added control, you can alternate between five speeds using a toggle switch.
At the touch of a button, Downhill Assist Control (DAC) [*] works with the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and Active Traction Control (A-TRAC) to help keep the GX at a slow, constant descent speed to help prevent the wheels from locking up. Virtually all the driver needs to do is watch the road and steer.
Hill-start Assist Control (HAC) [*] helps increase control during hill climbing, or stopping and starting on slippery surfaces. While stopped on an incline, conventional vehicles may roll back once the driver steps off the brake. HAC, however, helps prevent this by gently applying braking pressure.
Having power directed to all four wheels all of the time helps give the GX better traction in both on-road and off-road [*] driving situations. The transfer case can run in locked or unlocked modes, as well as in high or low gear.
The ingenious Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System (KDSS) is designed to change with the terrain. By automatically fixing the front and rear stabilizer bars in place when on-road, it helps to minimize body lean while cornering. Off-road [*], it allows each wheel to move more independently, so the wheel on uneven ground can react while the other wheels are relatively unaffected.
Stabilizer bars help minimize body lean on the road, but on uneven trails it may prevent tires from maintaining contact with the ground. To counter this, the KDSS uses hydraulic cylinders to adjust the bars. This computer-controlled suspension system allows more wheel articulation off-road and helps enhance handling on-road.
While an ordinary crash-test dummy can provide 119 data points, our Total HUman Model for Safety (THUMS) maps over two million data points on the human. This allows us to analyze more subtle injuries like bruising and soft tissue damage. The results of this innovative approach to safety include a class-leading [*] 10 airbags [*], active front headrests [*] and an available Pre-Collision System [*].
Technology like our THUMS system didn't yet exist when we developed it, so we had a responsibility to share it with others. And now THUMS is used throughout the world, including at nearly a dozen automakers.
The available Pre-Collision System (PCS) [*] is engineered to detect an imminent frontal collision and prepare vehicle systems to help reduce collision damage. It also includes an available Driver Attention Monitor [*] that can warn the driver if it detects an object ahead while the driver doesn't appear to be facing the road.
Available Lane Departure Alert [*] uses a camera to monitor visible lane markings, and it is designed to warn you if you are drifting so that you can steer back into the lane.

Beyond the powerful light that shines from the headlamps of the GX, features such as the Adaptive Front Lighting System(AFS) [*]—which turns the headlights in the direction you're steering—radiate intelligent engineering, as well.
To help provide added visibility for drivers, even those not in a GX, available intelligent high-beam headlamps [*] offer added illumination when the road ahead is clear and temporarily switch to low-beam when they sense another vehicle ahead.
