It's not just the gasoline engine or electric motor that makes the Lexus Hybrids so powerful. It's what they do together.

The electric motor provides an extra boost, giving Lexus Hybrids with a V6 engine the acceleration power of a V8, and those with a V8, the power of a V12.

Reduced Emissions

Lexus Hybrids were designed to provide the long-term benefit of lower smog-forming emissions. In fact, every Lexus Hybrid vehicle has been certified as a Super Ultra-Low Emission Vehicle

(SULEV II), meaning Lexus hybrids produce 70% fewer smog-forming emissions than the average new vehicle [3].

The front windshield of the HS is embedded with material that limits the amount of infrared rays coming into the car. This keeps the interior cooler, which means the air conditioning system doesn't have to work as hard and fuel economy improves.

The electric-drive motors in Lexus Hybrids result in vehicles with better fuel efficiency when compared to their non-hybrid counterparts, since Lexus Hybrids aren't solely dependent on their gasoline engines.

The nickel-metal hydride battery found in Lexus Hybrid vehicles is so advanced that it's designed to last the lifetime of the vehicle.

And with its regenerative braking technology, when the vehicle is coasting or braking, electric power is captured and stored to help ensure the battery remains charged.

electric to gasoline power virtually seamless, while the strategic placement of hybrid components throughout the vehicle creates a solid and luxurious ride.

Although the Lexus Hybrids are virtually silent when operating on electric power, we took additional steps to ensure the most serene driving experience—even when the gasoline engine is running. On some models, we even moved the engine mounts upward to diminish

vibrations and completely redesigned the air intake system. Like all Lexus vehicles, we lowered the likelihood of outside disturbances by adding insulation to the body panels, wheel wells and windshield.
