Thank you for subscribing to the Lexus Hybrid Newsletter. In this issue we'll be covering the many advantages of driving a Lexus Hybrid, including fewer smog-forming emissions. But first, we'd like to start with one of the lesser known benefits: a significant performance boost.

It's true. Lexus hybrid vehicles provide considerably better performance than the same

models equipped with only gasoline engines. One reason for this is a technology called Lexus Hybrid Drive. It combines the torque of a high-output electric-drive motor with the cruising power of an efficient gasoline engine. The end result is a vehicle that's not only faster off the line, it's smoother while shifting.
Consider the RX 400h AWD, the world's first luxury hybrid SUV. It's equipped with a V6 engine. But with the help of its two electric-drive motors, it can churn out a combined output of 268 horsepower [1]. What does this mean for you? A 0-to-60 time of 6.9 seconds [1,2]—the same kind of performance normally associated with a much larger 4.0-liter V8.
Then there's the GS 450h. With its 3.5-liter V6 engine and high-output permanent-magnet electric-drive motor, it redefines performance. Together, these two forces deliver 340 horsepower [1] and a 0-to-60 time of 5.2 seconds [1,3]. But despite its V8-like power, the GS 450h still manages to provide a combined fuel economy comparable to that of a 2.0-liter four-cylinder compact sedan.
Of course, extra power and better fuel economy aren't the only benefits these vehicles provide. They also run much quieter than those powered by conventional means. And thanks to a technology called regenerative braking, the electric-drive motor can act as a generator, helping to ensure the batteries never run out of energy.
In fact, the nickel-metal hydride batteries in our hybrids are so reliable, they're covered by an extraordinary warranty: eight years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first. More importantly, they require no special maintenance. Just bring your vehicle in for its regular scheduled service, just as you would any other Lexus.
One of the least noticeable features of the Lexus hybrid vehicles is also the most important: a cleaner environment. Every Lexus Hybrid is certified as a Super Ultra-Low Emission Vehicle (SULEV). But our environmental efforts don't end there. Our engineers are continually working to make our vehicles exceptionally lean in their use of raw materials, while pushing the boundaries of performance, luxury and quality.
After all, while each of these vehicles is a true hybrid, it is first and foremost a Lexus. So, naturally, when it came to luxury, nothing was spared, including the exquisite craftsmanship Lexus is known for.
No doubt, you've been researching Lexus Hybrids for some time now. You've read about the power they can produce. You've heard about the incredibly quiet ride. There's only one thing left to do: Get behind the wheel. Contact your local dealer and experience the innovation and luxury of a Lexus Hybrid today.
