When the first RX Hybrid was introduced, it made a statement: Of all the ways to begin shaping the future of the automobile, none was more important than simply beginning. Multiple generations of hybrid technology later, the original luxury hybrid is even further ahead of its time.

The RX 450h is a fusion of fuel efficiency and performance. Equipped with a light, compact Lexus Hybrid Drive system combined with an Atkinson-cycle 3.5L V6 engine, the RX 450h produces 295 total system horsepower [1] for excellent performance and fuel efficiency. Also included is an Electronically controlled Continuously Variable Transmission with intelligence (ECVT-i). A uniquely designed double-wishbone rear suspension improves handling while increasing usable cargo room [2].

Inside, the interior features an available Remote Touch [3] device with voice command that can understand casual speech, plus available NavTraffic™ [4] [5] and NavWeather™ [4] [5]. Rear-seat passengers can enjoy a dual-screen DVD Rear-Seat Entertainment System (RSES) [6] that is capable of showing video from two independent sources.
