2005
The 2005 RX 330 takes the decidedly rugged origin of the Luxury Utility Vehicle and enhances it with state-of-the art technology and indulgence. The RX has an available Dynamic Laser Cruise Control [1] that adjusts your speed to maintain a pre-set following distance. It has available rain-sensing intermittent windshield wipers that automatically adjust depending on the amount of rainfall. There's even an available backup camera [2] to help guide you when driving in reverse.
On the luxury side, the RX offers its driver nothing short of the smooth, powerful ride you've come to expect from Lexus. To entertain the passengers, there's an available Lexus DVD Rear-Seat Entertainment System. Even hauling cargo is made easier with an available power rear door with remote keyless entry.
Finally, since perhaps the greatest luxury of all is peace of mind, the RX comes with an abundance of advanced safety features. There's front seat-mounted side airbags with a larger protection area than a conventional side airbag. There's also a driver's Supplemental Restraint System which deploys the airbag in one of three speeds. There's even a driver's knee airbag [3]. Because sometimes the most important features are the ones you hope never to use.

The backup camera, available only with the navigation system, does not provide a comprehensive view of the entire rear area of the vehicle. You should also look around outside your vehicle and use your mirrors to confirm rearward clearance. Cold weather will limit effectiveness and view may become cloudy.

The Lexus driver's and front passenger's airbags, front seat-mounted side airbags, driver's-knee airbag and side curtain airbags are Supplemental Restraint Systems (SRS). The driver's and front passenger's airbags and driver's-knee airbag are designed to deploy in severe (usually frontal) collisions where the magnitude and duration of the forward deceleration of the vehicle exceed the design threshold level. The side and side curtain airbags are designed to deploy in certain types of severe side-impact collisions. In all other accidents, the airbags will not deploy. To decrease the risk of injury from a deploying airbag, always wear your seatbelt, sit upright in the middle of the seat, and do not lean against the door. Do not put objects in front of an airbag or around the seatback. Do not use rearward-facing child seats in any front passenger seat. The force of a deploying airbag SRS may cause serious injury or death. Please see your Owner's Manual for further instructions. Vehicle complies with "advanced airbag" requirements of FMVSS 208.

Brake Assist is designed to help the driver take full advantage of the benefits of ABS. It is not a substitute for safe driving practices. Braking effectiveness also depends on proper brake-system maintenance and tire and road conditions.
