GX2003

In late 2002, the all-new GX became the latest luxury utility vehicle in the Lexus lineup. While it's midsized, there's an abundance of luxury from the bird's-eye maple and leather interior trim to a Lexus Rear-Seat Audio System (RSAS). Options include a Lexus DVD Rear-Seat Entertainment System (RSES), Lexus Link[1] and a Lexus voice-activated DVD Navigation System.[2]

While the interior is exquisitely civilized, the GX is tough enough for just about any outdoor adventure. It comes equipped with full-time four-wheel drive and an impressive array of safety features, such as Hill-start Assist Control (HAC), Downhill Assist Control (DAC) and rain-sensing windshield wipers.

[1] Contact with the Lexus Link Call Center is limited to analog cellular connection availability and reception of GPS satellite signals, so sometimes you may be unable to contact the Call Center or receive emergency service support. Also, in 8/02, the FCC ruled that U.S. cellular companies are no longer required to provide analog service after 12/07. Lexus Link will not operate in areas where analog coverage is not provided. [2] The Lexus DVD Navigation System is designed to assist in locating an address or point of interest. Discrepancies may be encountered between the system and your actual location. Changes in street names, road closures, traffic flow or other road system changes may affect the accuracy of the mapping software. Rely upon your common sense to decide whether or not to follow a specified route. Detailed coverage not available in every city. Optional periodic geographic updates available at an additional cost. See your Navigation Owner's Manual and your Lexus dealer for further details. [3] Brake Assist is designed to help the driver take full advantage of the benefits of ABS. It is not a substitute for safe driving practices. Braking effectiveness also depends on proper brake-system maintenance and tire and road conditions. [4] TORSEN® is a registered trademark of Zexel Torsen, Inc. [5] Lexus Vehicle Skid Control (VSC) is an electronic system designed to help the driver maintain vehicle control under adverse conditions. It is not a substitute for safe driving practices. Factors including speed, road conditions and driver steering input can all affect whether VSC will be effective in preventing a loss of control. Please see your Owner's Manual for further details. [6] The Lexus driver's, front passenger's, front seat-mounted side and side curtain airbags are a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS). The driver's and front passenger's airbags are designed to deploy in severe (usually frontal) collisions where the magnitude and duration of the forward deceleration of the vehicle exceed the design threshold. The side and side curtain airbags are designed to deploy in a severe side-impact collision. In all other accidents, the airbags will not deploy. To decrease the risk of injury from a deploying airbag, always wear seatbelts, sit upright in the middle of the seat, and do not lean against the door. Do not put objects in front of an airbag or around the seatback. Do not use rearward-facing child seats in any front passenger seat. The force of a deploying airbag SRS may cause serious injury or death. Please see your Owner's Manual for further instructions. [7] 124 watts at 0.1% THD; 20-20,000 Hz. [8] Mark Levinson is a registered trademark of Harman International Industries. [9] Continuous average power, all channels driven, at 0.01% THD; 20-20,000 Hz. [10] Rear air conditioning comes only with available third-row seat. [11] Accessory CrossBars are not recommended for luggage. [12] Some GX 470s are made with an optional tow hitch that is installed before the vehicle is delivered to the dealer. Through the first half of 2003, this optional hitch is a 5,000-lb weight-carrying hitch that should not be used with weight-distributing hitch hardware. Starting approximately the second half of 2003, the optional hitch will change to a 6,500-lb weight-distributing hitch. Availability of these optional hitches is limited by the U.S. EPA to 33 percent of production. As a result of this limitation, these hitches will not be available as a dealer-installed option and hitch availability will end before the end of the model year. Please see your dealer for availability and details. Maximum tow ratings calculated using base vehicle, except for options required to achieve the rating, plus five occupants. Additional optional equipment/passengers/cargo will reduce the amount you can tow. Do not exceed any weight ratings. Before towing, confirm your vehicle and trailer are compatible, hooked up properly and you have all necessary additional equipment. Review all instructions/cautions from your trailer-hitch manufacturer and Lexus Owner's Manual. [13] Measurement of vehicle in Rear Adjustable Height Control (RAHC) Normal setting. [14] These performance capacity figures are for comparison only, and were obtained with prototype vehicles by professional drivers using special safety equipment and procedures. These should not be attempted on public streets or highways. [15] 2003 EPA-estimated mpg. Actual mileage may vary.
