GS Hybrid Model Details

The GSh features an aggressive, contemporary exterior design complemented with luxury and performance. New wheels, grille and taillamps help differentiate the 2010 model.

New for 2010 is Safety Connect™ [1] [2], plus an available next-generation Navigation System [3] with voice command and Lexus Enform® [1] [4]. Available XM® services include XM® Radio [3] [5] [6], XM NavTraffic® [3] [6], XM NavWeather™ [3] [6] and XM® Sports and Stocks [3] [6]. Audio is enhanced with a standard USB input as well as Bluetooth® audio [7] connectivity for compatible music players, including iPod® [8]. Active front headrests [9] are also newly standard.

The GS 450h is the world's first hybrid performance luxury sedan. Powered by Lexus Hybrid Drive, which features a port- and direct-injected 3.5-liter V6 engine, electric-drive motor and Electronically controlled Continuously Variable Transmission (ECVT), the GS 450h produces an astonishing 340 total system horsepower [10]. The power is directed to the rear wheels to offer performance that is normally not associated with hybrid vehicles. Blue highlights have been added to the lighting and badging to differentiate the GS Hybrid from conventional GS models.

The GS 450h also offers an available Active Power Stabilizer Suspension System. The system can preload the stabilizer bars, making them behave like thicker bars when cornering forces are high. When the vehicle straightens out, the bars return to their unloaded state, offering a compliant ride.

Because the transponder chip is embedded in the key or SmartAccess fob, it can be costly to replace. If you lose a key or SmartAccess fob, your Lexus dealer can help. All ABs (if installed) are designed to inflate only under certain conditions and in certain types of severe collisions: frontal and knee ABs typically inflate in frontal collisions; side and side curtain ABs in side collisions; Roll-Sensing Curtain ABs at a severe tilt degree, roll or lateral G-force. In all other accidents, the ABs will not inflate. To decrease the risk of injury from an inflating AB, always wear seatbelts, sit upright in the middle of the seat as far back as possible and do not lean against the door. Do not put objects in front of an AB or around the seatback. Do not use a rearward-facing child seat in any front passenger seat. The force of an inflating AB may cause serious injury or death.
