Nick Watney’s bright golf career began in college, where he was the No. 1-ranked college player during his senior year at Fresno State University with five total wins, more than any other player in the nation at the time. He was a three-time All-American and led his team that year to the Western Athletic Conference team title.

Nick was turned on to golf by his uncle and Fresno State golf coach Mike Watney. Always an athlete, Nick knew by his freshman year in high school that he wanted to be a professional golfer.

After turning professional in 2003, Nick earned his first professional victory at the Canadian Tour’s 2003 Lewis Chitengwa Memorial Championship. In 2004 he joined the PGA TOUR’s Nationwide Tour and finished 5th on the official money list. He capped the season off by winning the 2004 Nationwide Tour Championship and earning a full exemption on the 2005 PGA TOUR.

After a shaky rookie season on TOUR, during which he made the cut in just under half of his starts, Nick finished tied for 5th place in December’s Qualifying Tournament to again earn his status on the PGA TOUR in 2006.

His second year on TOUR proved to be more successful. Nick finished the year with 11 top-25 finishes, with six top-10s and a career-best finish of tied for 5th place at the 2006 Reno-Tahoe Open and FUNAI Classic at Walt Disney World Resort. His more than $1.2 million in earnings earned him a 75th place ranking on the Official Money List and a spot in the coveted top 125.

In April 2007, Nick won his first PGA TOUR victory at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, where an eagle in the final round led him to finish with a three-shot margin over Ken Duke. To start off the 2009 season, Nick captured his second victory at Torrey Pines' Buick Invitational, winning just one stroke over John Rollins.

On TOUR, Nick represents several companies, including Titleist and Lexus. Off the course, his interests include music and video games.
