Nick Watney's bright golf career began in college, where he was the No. 1-ranked college player during his senior year at Fresno State University with five total wins, more than any other player in the nation at the time. He was a three-time All-American and led his team that year to the Western Athletic Conference team title.
Nick was turned on to golf by his uncle and Fresno State golf coach Mike Watney. Always an athlete, Nick knew by his freshman year in high school that he wanted to be a professional golfer.
After turning professional in 2003, Nick earned his first professional victory at the Canadian Tour's 2003 Lewis Chitengwa Memorial Championship. In 2004, he joined the PGA TOUR's Nationwide Tour and finished fifth on the official money list. He capped the season off by winning the 2004 Nationwide Tour Championship and earning a full exemption on the 2005 PGA TOUR.
In April 2007, Nick won his first PGA TOUR victory at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. He then captured his second victory at the 2009 Torrey Pines Buick Invitational, winning by one stroke over John Rollins. 2010 brought him eight top-10 finishes and took him to 27th place on the Money Leader's List.
Nick's biggest win to date took place this season at the World Golf Championships-Cadillac Championship, where he earned his third tour victory. Four months later he captured his fourth victory at AT&T National, moving him to the top in FedExCup standings and PGA TOUR money list. During the third round of AT&T, Nick's back-nine 27 was the lowest back nine of the 2011 PGA TOUR season. On TOUR, Nick represents several companies, including Lexus, and currently drives a Lexus LS460L.
